Beverly Cleary
I love the Ramona books written by Beverly Cleary. Ramona is so much like my pesty little brother that she makes me laugh. Beverly has written lots of other books with different characters. Which ones are your favorites?

Ramona gives me a little hint of what it would be like if I had a little sister! My favorite book is Ramona’s world, and I am finishing it right now! It is about Ramona and her family. She just started fourth grade, and doesn’t have anybody to play with, except for her friend that is a boy. She finally finds a new friend, Daisy. She is new to Ramona’s school. She has bands on her teeth, which Ramona is jealous about. Daisy invites Ramona to her house. Daisy and Ramona were playing dress-up, and Ramona makes a big hole in the second floor! What will Ramona do?

I am almost done with Ramona’s World. Also, besides Ramona’s finding a new friend, Daisy, Ramona’s sister is having a birthday party! Everybody always says that Beezus (Ramona’s sister) is so grown up and mature. Beezus is tired of it, so when she is going on a shopping trip for the party at the mall, she gets her ears pierced! Ramona sees them first, and Beezus is worried what her parents will say. When her parents finally see what Beezus had done while she was at the mall, they aren’t mad. They just wonder why Beezus didn’t tell them before. She goes to the party, and has a great time! There had been boys at the party, and they were supposed to dance. Find out what happens in Ramona’s World! It’s a great book, at least what I’ve read!

I finished Ramona’s World! When I read the end of it, it is funny. I am going to tell you about the end, which is Ramona’s Birthday party. When she goes to the park for her birthday, 3 boys are on the playground. They are Danny (Yard Ape) and his 2 friends. They come over, and start bothering the girls. Then, Ramona’s sister starts crying. When the party is over, Ramona helps her mother clean up. Then, the boys are on the playground, and Ramona calls to them, asking if they want to have some birthday cake. Read other Beverly Cleary books to find out what adventures the kids have!

I like Henry Huggins a lot. In her very first book, Beverly Cleary wrote about a third-grade boy back in the 50’s. Henry first finds a stray dog on the sidewalk and decides to keep him. Then he sees a sale for a fishtank, complete with 3 fish and 1 snail. Ruckus is caused by the fish when…..read it to find out! Humiliation then comes when Henry is chosen for the most embarrassing part in the school play. But he is saved by heroic Ribsy, the stray dog. But what will happen after that?

Embarrassment! In Ramona Quimby, Age 8,, Ramona has some real problems….embarrassment problems. The current fad at school was to crack your boiled egg over your head. Ramona’s egg wasn’t even cooked. It was raw, so…mess! The action of the book was when Ramona did a terrible thing. In front of everybody in the classroom. What did happen? But she lightens up a bit when the class has to make a report, trying to advertise. Just guess what Ramona will make hers about!

I loved the book Socks. It all starts when he is a kitten and two kids are in front of a store trying to sell all of their kittens. Socks keeps trying to escape from the hot sweaty box of kittens. The little girl wants to keep Socks so when a family with 4 fighting kids wants him, the brother throws him into the mailbox, luckily the mailman comes and helps him out. Finally a nice young couple adopts him and he becomes very pampered and loved. They have no children so all of their attention goes to Socks. p.s. His name is Socks because he is all gray with white paws like socks. But then the couple have a baby and Socks becomes very little to them. They have to care for the baby almost all day so Socks is left alone. He becomes very jealous and does not like the baby. Soon they become best buds, but read it to find out how, I will tell you one more thing, there is a next door neighbor who has a little girl that loves Socks and when he is put outside for being very bad (read to find out for what) he goes to the little girl’s house and she thinks they starve him, even though he is plump, okay? So, I loved this book and you will too! Read it and you will be laughing all day, all night, all the time, thanks.

Everyone’s favorite little girl Ramona had a fourth grade year no one could forget! When she starts the fourth grade, her teacher says she needs to work on her spelling. Everyday when her mom asks her what her day was like at school she answered something with “stuff”. Her mom gets concerned that she says stuff too much. The annoying kid, Yard Ape, as when she met him in the third grade, is back and in her class! Suddenly she’s in a mess thinking she might like him! But the best part is that she has a new best friend, Daisy. The playdate at Daisy’s house is one you’ll never forget! Her birthday party is right around the corner. Ramona’s mom wants Susan to be invited to the party at the park. Ramona then realizes what a nice girl she really is. What else will Ramona do in her fourth grade period? Read it to find out!

Henry & Ribsy is a very good book. Henry has been waiting a short quarter of forever to go fishing with his dad. Mr. Huggins said he would only let Henry & Ribsy go fishing if Henry would get Ribsy the dog to behave. It seems like it would never happen, because Ribsy starts barking at the mailman. Knocking over the trash cans. What more can he do? But Mr. Huggins allows Henry to go, but Henry said he could get a big fish right in front of Scooter. Will he?

Wow! Talk about funny! When our favorite growing girl Ramona starts kindergarten, things are a mess. Her teacher is very nice to her. But she can’t stop Ramona’s ruckus. She just can’t help pulling one of Susan’s curls. After Ramona had stopped pulling her curls, however, Susan screamed for no reason, and poor little Ramona gets sent home! Maybe Halloween will be better. It’s time for the Halloween party, when all of the school children dress in their Halloween costumes and march in a parade! But Ramona wants everyone to know which witch she is, since there were about fifty witches out of the whole school. She tapes a paper on her costume, identyfying that that witch is Ramona Quimby! But she didn’t forget to make her Q with pointy ears and whiskers, which she had recently invented. But when it’s rainy outside, mud is everywhere. Ramona had just gotten her brand-new red, shiny boots, and she liked to bounce in the puddles. But she got stuck! Did she have to make the traffic attender Henry Huggins (yes, he’s mentioned in other books by Beverly Cleary) pull her out of her new boots, leaving them as “red dots in the mud”? She is such a pest! Oh, what will she do next? Will it be making Howdy bring a stupid stuffed bunny for show-and-tell? We’ll just never know! If you want to read more of Ramona’s amazing adventures, I suggest you read Ramona The Pest in our library!

I read Emily’s Runaway Imagination is a great book! It is about a girl named Emily and her family but mainly about Emily. In the book Emily’s mom tells her that her imagination is always running away. Emily goes with her grandfather to their friend’s farm. When her grandfather starts the buggy, he can’t stop it. If they stop it, the buggy will run out of gas, so Emily has to jump out of the buggy and open all the gates so the can go through.
