Kevin Henkes is one of my favorite authors. Who doesn’t love Chrysanthemum? She loves the way her name looks in orange crayon and how it looks on a birthday cake. She loves her name until she starts school and the other children make fun of it. The children continue to make fun of her until the music teacher decides to name her daughter Chrysanthemum.
