How about the movies? Do they do justice to the books? I can say that I haven’t seen any of the movies either. Should I watch the movies without reading the book or should I just read the book?

So I have to admit that I have never read a Harry Potter book. Those of you who know me know that I am much more of a Junie B Jones or a Hank Zipzer kind of teacher. It is not that I have anything against Harry Potter, I just prefer the funny HAHA kind of books that I can read to my kids.
Anyone care to convince me that I should read this book series?

The Harry Potter Series is filled with excitement and suspense. My favorite one is called Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. It is about a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher: Professor Umbridge. A secret door at the end of a dark passageway, and a secret organization called Dubledore’s Army (D.A. for short.) Professer Umbridge is from the Ministry of Magic. Last year, Harry saw Voldemart come back to his original form, but the Ministry is too scared to believe it. So, they send Professer Umbridge to make sure Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry isn’t planning anything against the Ministry. She also makes up crazy rules that the students have to obey. Also in the book Harry Potter goes on a date with his crush! See what happens and read the book!

Harry Potter is the only wizard known to have survived the killing curse. At his first year at Hogwarts, he meets new friends. There’s Ron, who comes from a pureblood family, Hermione, who is muggle-born, Neville, Seamus, and Dean. Also in his first year at Hogwarts, Harry finds the Mirror of Erised. Does he battle Voldemart, the greatest wizard responsible for so many deaths including Harry’s parents? Find out!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is a great book. All of the books in this series are great books. You can watch the movies, but the books are WAY better! If you wouldn’t want to read the whole series, try book five, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Harry, Hermione, and Ron keep looking for Horcruxes (You’ll find out what they are in the sixth book). On their way, they get captured by Snatchers and I’m not going to tell you if they do or if they don’t escape. They also find out about the Deathly Hallows from Luna’s dad (the editor of The Quibler). Also in the book, a little friend dies to save their life. Find out who it is!

My favorite character in Harry Potter is (of course) Harry Potter, but, I also really, really like Hermione because she is so smart and is really useful (like all girls are). My opinions on the book? I think they are really great books that everyone in the world should read. They are good enough to make me read the whole series when I am only in fourth grade. Yes, I have read the whole series and I LOVE them!

Good for you Julianna! What an accomplishment! I read number one, two, three, four, five, and seven this summer. (I read number six when it came out and listened to it many times.) I absolutely love the series. I read Deathly Hallows slowly to savor every minute of it. I read the last 100 pages three times because I knew I’d miss valuable details and clues to the story. I believe that I will have to read the whole series again soon.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone is the most exciting book ever! It is filled with mystery. It is about a boy who’s parents die from the world’s most powerful wizard of their time, Voldemort. Voldemort tried to kill Harry but failed. Instead he left a lightning shaped scar on his forehead. Since there are no more relatives he is forced to stay with his aunt and uncle (the Dursleys). When he’s older he is treated very poorly, but the worst is still to come when the letters arrive. When the letters arrive Uncle Vernon does anything to keep Harry from reading his letter. They keep coming so they move far away. Then Hagrid comes and Harry learns everything about his parents and that he is a wizard. So Hagrid takes Harry to London to buy his school supplies. After he gets to Hogwarts they sort the new students into there houses. He makes two best friends there, Hermione and Ron.They go on many adventures together and learn about the Sorcerer’s Stone. They learn how to get it. So they try to find it before anyone else does so it is safe. They go and get past the different levels, but Harry only moves on.What happens? Read and find out!
