About Mr. Crandall
Mr. Crandall was born and raised in Rochester, NY. He decided to go into teaching during high school, having had several outstanding and inspiring teachers, especially art and social studies. From 1994 to 1998, he attended Nazareth College of Rochester, originally pursuing a degree in art education (later changing his major), and earned BA in art history. He attended the Universita per Stanieri in Sienna, Italy, on a scholarship, which allowed him to experience Italian art, history, and culture first hand. From 1999 to 2000, Mr. Crandall attended Syracuse University to work towards a masters degree in art history, but chose not to continue his studies in that field. In 2001, he returned to college to pursue a second bachelors degree, this time in history – which earned from SUNY Brockport in 2002. From 2002 to 2006 Mr. Crandall continued his studies at SUNY Brockport, ultimately earning a MSEd in Secondary Social Studies Education. His Masters Thesis/Project dealt with religion and its impact on politics and popular culture in America. He has been teaching at Kingman High School since 2005 and currently teaches World History and Geography, AP World History, and U.S. History.
Besides history, Mr. Crandall is a huge fan of science fiction – with interests in Star Wars, Star Trek, and Dr. Who. Other interests include hiking, camping (though it has been some time since he last did this), reading, and role playing games (esp. of the non-video game variety). When not at school he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter.
